National News:  Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) chairman Samir Kamat said that Operation Sindoor was not just a military mission, but it is strong proof of India's indigenous technology, self-reliance, and strategic thinking. Speaking at the fourth convocation of Pune-based Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), he said that this operation made it clear that India is fully capable of self-defense on the basis of its technical capability.

Air Chief Marshal's revelation

A few hours before his statement, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh had informed that the Indian Air Force shot down five Pakistani fighter planes and a large aircraft during Operation Sindoor. He called it the biggest surface-to-air operation in the history of India.

Operation Sindoor was beyond the mission

Kamat said that Operation Sindoor was not an ordinary mission, but it was a message that India is fully capable of protecting its borders with indigenous technology. He called it an excellent example of strategic foresight and self-reliant defense production.

The Brahmos missile hits accurately

India's BrahMos cruise missile played a key role in this operation. This missile, jointly developed with Russia, accurately struck several targets inside Pakistan. According to Kamat, the air-launched BrahMos was deployed from the Sukhoi-30MKI aircraft, which demonstrated high effective capability.

Deployment of defensive weapons

Along with offensive weapons, the Akash surface-to-air missile system, the D-4 anti-drone system, and the MR-SAM were also successfully used. These systems contributed significantly to neutralizing the aerial threats.

AI capabilities of AkashTir

The DRDO chief said that all the sensors were connected to an AI-based system called Akashteer. This system helps in networking various sensors and weapons and selecting the appropriate weapon based on the incoming threat. This made it possible to identify threats and resolve them quickly.

Use of control systems

Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AEW&C) was also used for aerial surveillance, which helped in detecting enemy activities in time and made prompt action possible. Kamat said that the Akash Teer system is a part of the Indian Air Force's Integrated Air Command and Control System (IACCS), which plays a central role in air defense operations. This component proved to be the most important for air defense in Operation Sindoor.
